Canon Autoboy 3 – 1986
A compact classic from the golden age of Japanese camera design.

Released in 1986, the Canon Autoboy 3 is a fully automatic 35mm film camera from the original Autoboy lineup - known outside Japan as the Sure Shot Supreme. This model won a Good Design Award and was named European Compact Camera of the Year, and you can feel it in the build. Instead of tacking on a grip, Canon curved the body itself to fit your hand better — simple, clever, and satisfying to hold.

It features a 38mm f/2.8 lens (4 elements in 4 groups), a built-in flash that charges in just over a second, and automatic flash control in backlit conditions. Battery life is serious — up to five years under typical casual use. At launch, this camera sold for nearly 47,000 yen, which was no small amount.

This one’s in absolutely lovely condition overall. The original Canon strap is included. The case shows its age, but still gets the job done. Lens is clean, everything tested and working properly.

A perfect pick if you want a film camera that’s both nostalgic and genuinely nice to shoot with. See below for a guy comparing an Autoboy 3 (Sureshot Supreme in the US) to a Yashica T4.
